Associate Clinician (Part-Time Employee)
Employment Status: Part-Time Employee (8–16 hours/week)
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Clinical DirectorRole Purpose
Provide outpatient psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families under clinical supervision, with a focus on LGBTQ+ clients, individuals with disabilities, and clients with intersecting marginalized identities.
Core Duties
Provide evidence-informed psychotherapy to assigned clients
Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning
Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the EHR
Provide letters supporting gender-affirming care when clinically appropriate
Participate in individual and group clinical supervision
Attend required staff meetings and trainings
Adhere to ethical, legal, and organizational standards
Required Competencies
Foundational clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
Application of trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
Ability to work effectively with LGBTQ+ clients and families
Documentation competence consistent with OHA and Medicaid standards
Professional communication and collaboration
Openness to supervision, feedback, and professional growth
Experience with couples, children, teens and families, or an interest in working with this population and willingness to learn
Qualifications
Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, MFT, social work, or related field. Degree must include a completed practicum and internship.
Registered Counselor Associate or MFT Associate (Social Work Associates are welcome to apply, but we do not currently have a Social Work Board-approved supervisor on staff, so Social Work Associates will need to hire an external supervisor for their hours to count toward licensure)
Supervision & Accountability
Receives ongoing clinical supervision per OAR requirements
Performance reviewed by Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Director
Work Conditions
In-person and telehealth services in Portland
Must reside in, or commute to our office in, the Portland metro area at least 1 day per week to provide in-person therapy
Regulatory Compliance
Position meets OAR 309-019-0130 requirements for qualified personnel with documented competencies and supervision.

Licensed Clinician (Part-Time Employee)
Employment Status: Part-Time Employee (8–16 hours/week)
Reports To: Clinical DirectorRole Purpose
Provide independent outpatient psychotherapy services while supporting the clinic’s mission of accessible, affirming behavioral health care.
Core Duties
Provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families
Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning
Provide gender-affirming care and clinical letters when appropriate
Maintain compliant and timely clinical documentation
Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities
Required Competencies
Independent clinical judgment and case management
Competence in trauma-informed and affirmative care
Ethical decision-making and risk assessment
Accurate documentation and regulatory compliance
Experience with couples, children, teens and families, or an interest in working with this population and willingness to learn
Qualifications
Master’s or doctoral degree in a behavioral health field
Oregon licensure (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, Licensed Psychologist) or eligibility with plan for licensure
Supervision & Accountability
Reports to Clinical Director for clinical supervision at least twice quarterly, as dictated by OAR 309-019-0130
Participates in peer consultation as required

Want to give back to the community by seeing 1-3 clients a week? We are seeking dedicated volunteer clinicians to join our mission of providing accessible mental health support. Volunteers are valued members of our clinical community and receive support, supervision, and respect for their time and boundaries.
Volunteer Clinician (Licensed or Associate)
Status: Volunteer
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Clinical DirectorRole Purpose
Provide outpatient psychotherapy services to expand access to care for underserved clients.
Core Duties
Provide psychotherapy to a small caseload (1–3 clients/week)
Assist clients with access to gender-affirming care when appropriate
Maintain required clinical documentation
Participate in supervision and check-ins
Required Competencies
Basic clinical assessment and intervention skills
Ability to work effectively with LGBTQ+ clients and families
Cultural humility and awareness of systemic oppression
Ethical boundaries and professionalism
Responsiveness to supervision
Qualifications
Oregon licensure or associate registration (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Psychologist). Associates may count hours toward licensure (may depend on permission of Licensing Board).

Associates receive free weekly individual and/or supervision
Licensed volunteers receive clinical supervision at least twice quarterly, as dictated by OAR 309-019-0130

Spectrum Counseling and Mental Wellness offers a supportive, hands-on internship experience for master’s-level students who want meaningful clinical exposure in an affirming outpatient setting.
Interns work closely with licensed supervisors in a small clinic environment where learning is intentional and relational. You’ll gain experience with individual, couple, and family therapy, diagnostic formulation, and gender-affirming care — including writing letters of support under supervision.
This internship is well-suited to students who value depth, mentorship, and community impact alongside professional development.
Student Clinician (Master’s-Level Intern)
Status: Unpaid Internship
Reports To: Clinical SupervisorRole Purpose
Develop foundational clinical skills through supervised practice in an outpatient behavioral health setting.
Core Duties
Provide psychotherapy under supervision
Develop assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans
Participate in supervision and trainings
Complete clinical documentation with oversight

Enrollment in a master’s-level counseling or MFT program
